Somonka

I picked cherry blossoms

in love, liquid petals

dripped pink on sidewalks

peppered with snow as I fell

for you, young and wanting.

I know, I caught you

on ice, picking up petals

for me. We are young,

but here petals melt into

promises whispered to wind.

Our promises cling

to branches stripped naked

with snow, naive blossoms

growing past passion’s bosom,

maturity flowering.

Now they grace our bed

petal pink kisses on necks

where teeth charm the skin

as words breeze past cherry lips,

show me I am beautiful.
